Mission: To harness education, advocacy, and bold action to foster consumer rejection of genetically modified organisms, until they are proven safe. We support the labeling of GMO foods with the ultimate goal of getting GMOs out our food supply and environment.
A project of Organic Consumers Association.
A Simple Proposition for California in 2012
The California Right to Know Genetically Engineered Food Act is simple: The initiative would require food sold in retail outlets such as grocery stores (not including restaurants) to be labeled if it is produced with genetic engineering. In addition to this disclosure, genetically engineered foods are prohibited from being advertised as natural.
As a consumer your voice and purchasing decisions are very important to retailers and food manufacturers. One of the best ways to help secure a non-GMO food supply is to support companies that are Non-GMO Project Verified and to encourage companies that are not verified to make a strong commitment to providing non-GMO foods and become verified. If a company you value is not Non-GMO Project Verified we have made it easy to let them know how important this is to you.
Did you know that genetically engineered foods are unlabeled, inadequately tested, and most Americans are eating them every day?
Did you know that they have been linked to toxic and allergic reactions in people; to sickness, sterility and fatalities in livestock; and damage to virtually every organ studied in lab animals?
And did you know that 91% of Americans support labeling of genetically engineered foods?
We have a right to know what's in our food.
Please join us in asking Congress to require labeling nationwide.
